UN Secretary General appreciated the cooperation of the U.S.

Now 26 / 9, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh met with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon at UN headquarters in New York.
 

At the meeting, UN Secretary-General appreciates the cooperation and strong support of Vietnam for the United Nations, which has actively implemented the "One UN" to improve development cooperation of the United Nations.

Secretary-General also welcomed Vietnam and other ASEAN countries and the countries concerned recently achieved new results in implementation of the "Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC)," wants parties continue efforts for peace and security in the region.

Mr. Ban Ki-moon also expressed his desire to Vietnam continue to play an active role in international affairs and other areas, including the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development next year.

Minister Pham Binh Minh said with enthusiasm and active international integration, is a reliable partner and responsible members of the international community, Vietnam will continue to contribute to the work is a common concern of the international community and United Nations efforts for peace and stability in the region.

Minister Pham Binh Minh also plans to introduce socio-economic development of Vietnam in the next 5 years and look forward to receiving the support of United Nations organizations in the implementation of this plan in accordance the priorities in Vietnam.

The same day, Minister Pham Binh Minh also have bilateral meetings with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United States, China, Canada, Russia, Slovenia, Thailand, Kazakhstan.

At a meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam Pham Binh Minh and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the two sides discussed measures to strengthen bilateral relations towards a strategic partnership.

Two ministers also discussed regional architecture in Asia - Pacific region as well as strengthening U.S. relations - Vietnam in the fields of science and education.

Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh asked the U.S. to Vietnam to continue the humanitarian assistance in resolving the issue of Agent Orange and HIV-AIDS, and welcomed the U.S. will attend the East Asia Summit this year .

For her part, Clinton emphasized the desire of General Electric allowed to bid for power in Vietnam. also thanked Vietnam has taken steps to reform the adoption system as well as Vietnam's decision to join the Hague Convention.

Mrs. Clinton also called for Vietnam to participate in PSI Security Initiative, a global effort to prevent trafficking in weapons of mass destruction, and the Minister Pham Binh Minh said Vietnam is considering this issue.

At a meeting between Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi, the two sides exchanged views on bilateral relations in recent years and continue to promote bilateral relations in time as well as to the contents related to the work of two foreign ministries.

In addition, Minister Pham Binh Minh also had meetings with Director General Programme United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Leaders of such organizations have reaffirmed their commitment to effectively implement the cooperation program with Vietnam for the period 2012-2016. /.
